ABSTRACT

A field experiment was conducted during kharif, 2013 to study the effect of different nitrogen levels and time of harvesting on yield and quality of fodder sorghum. The experiment was laid out in randomized block design with factorial concept, replicated thrice and the treatments consisted of four nitrogen levels i.e, 75, 100, 125 and 150 kg ha-1 and four times of harvesting i.e, 45, 60, 75 and 90 days after sowing. The results revealed that the growth parameters of leaves per plant, leaf area index and green forage yield were increased significantly with the increase in nitrogen upto 150 kg ha-1. Delay in harvest of fodder sorghum upto 90 days increased the leaves per plant, leaf area index and green forage yield.
